Ancient Amphora winemaking is alive in Greece
Tetramythos Retsina is an organic wine made from Roditis grapes, cultivated in mountainous limestone soils in the village of Ano Diacopto, Northern Peloponnese.
Alcoholic fermentation occurs in Greek clay amphoras of 200 L capacity, with wild yeasts and the addition of natural pine resin collected from pine trees surrounding their vineyards. After spontaneous malolactic fermentation in the amphorae, maturation continues for 3 months in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Note: Wine with golden yellow colour, aromas of lemon blossoms, citrus peel, dried herbs and elegant hints of fresh pine. Floral and botanic characters also on the palate, attractive zesty notes and great length of flavor.
A perfect accompaniment for fried fish, spicy finger food and garlic-based dishes.
