Romanian Wine: Fetească Regală & Fetească Neagră

Romania is a hidden gem in the world of wine, boasting a rich history of viticulture that dates back over 6,000 years. With its diverse climate, fertile soils, and centuries-old winemaking traditions, Romania produces wines that are as vibrant and captivating as the country itself. At the heart of this heritage are two star indigenous grape varieties: Fetească Regală and Fetească Neagră.

Fetească Regală, or the “Royal Maiden,” is celebrated for its fresh, aromatic profile with notes of crisp green apple, pear, and citrus, making it perfect for lively, refreshing wines. Meanwhile, Fetească Neagră, the “Black Maiden,” is a bold red grape renowned for its rich, velvety character, offering flavours of dark berries, plum, and a hint of spice. Whether you’re exploring a bright white or a robust red, Romanian wines promise an unforgettable tasting experience.
